If You Really Knew Me

Today is my twenty-fifth birthday! Honestly, I cannot believe I have been alive for a quarter of a century. I cannot believe that the above photo is twenty four years old. Me being 25 means I have lived in Flagstaff for seven years now and Berkeley and I have been together for four-ish years, my parents have been married for 24 years, my mom is in her 40's and time literally just melts away! As we get closer to my California bridal shower, my sister has been asking questions for inclusion of one of her games. I realized that even my sister doesn't know some of the random details about who I am. I have been contemplating this type of most of months now, and this was the perfect opportunity for it!

If you really knew me...

you would know I love to put crunchy cheetos in my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

you would know I am technically one of four children, but I grew up as one of eight children. My parents took in a whole other family while we were growing up because that family had fallen on hard times. As such, I can lust over something for months or even years, but I will probably not buy it and would never ask for someone to buy it for me. It makes it hard for people to gift me things, and its something I am working on.

you would know I have favorite songwriters and composers rather than favorite bands/groups/artists.

you would know that some times, I have a really bad potty mouth! It is not so apparent in my writing, typing, texting, but sometimes I wonder what people would think about Berkeley and I if they heard some of the profanities we spew out.

you would know I still feel butterflies every time I see Berkeley, especially when we have been apart for a few days. He lights up my life and I look forward to him coming home from work every single day!

If you really knew me, you would know that I feel like I am a socially awkward person.

you would know I have very few friends by choice, but the friends I do have I completely love and adore. I would do anything for the truly important people in my life. On the other hand, I also love meeting and connecting with new people.

you would know I love painting my nails. but usually pick my polish off the very next day.

you would know I have done therapy twice, well only committed to it once during college years, the first time was a bereavement appointment after my grandmother lost her fight against ovarian cancer and lupus and the "counselor" had a nervous tick where she pulled her lashes and eyebrow hairs out on one side. I felt she was way more messed up than I was and told my mom I was never going back. When I actively chose to do counseling the psychologist told me she looked forward to our appointments so that she could hear more tales from my wild and crazy life. I started to feel like I was entertainment for her so I quit.

If you really knew me, you would know that the previous paragraph says more about me than I ever expected to share here and I really considered taking it out all together.

you would know I would love to author a book about my aforementioned wild and crazy life.

you would know that I am a secret smarty, a nerd, and a goof!

you would know I have a semi-serious list of goals I would like to achieve that I wrote when I was twelve. While some of those things will never happen, I am on my way to completing a lot of that list.

If you really knew me, you would know that I would much rather sit on the computer and chat/exchange emails/facebook/twitter with you than make you suffer through an awkward in-person encounter with me. Here is where my feelings of social awkwardness come into play. It is part of the reason I started this blog.

If you really knew me you would know as a kid I was convinced I'd never get married and I would only adopt children, but getting married, pregnancy and popping out 3 babies are some of the only things I can think of right now, any "comfort foods" are my favorites, I could eat pizza any day of the week, I love following fashion, but have my own quirky style, and my favorite colors change frequently but black and hot pink make the top 5 every time.
