This past weekend we headed a few hours south to the greater Phoenix area to have lunch with and hug on Berke's sister. It had been entirely too long since we had seen her and it was well worth the trip!!
Often times when we have down time while traveling and the kids need to let out some energy, I will look up different parks. We had originally planned on visiting the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale but they weren't opening until later in the day. Instead, we found Playtopia! at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler. It was a win!
We loved the whole set up and layout. There were three main themed play areas and a ton of other stuff. In the center of the fenced in area was a giant red barn that covered most of the "Farm Land" play zone. There several play structures with the main one being accessible with wider walk throughs and a ramp! Both kids happily climbed up and down and explored every inch of what it had to offer.
The second area we explored was Critter Land. This is a smaller zone with boulders for climbing, faux egg and tortoise shells for sitting in, a sand pit with dinosaur bones to excavate, and a giant gila monster! Of course, the boy child immediately gravitated right to the giant boulders. He scaled both of them with relative ease. The first he went up, sat, and then climbed back down.
Then he climbed the second one! And jumped!! I fully expected to be spending the rest of the day in urgent care after that little stunt. Thankfully, after a few tears he got back up with little incident. Don't worry, we have been keeping an eye on it. Just something to be aware of if you too have a little one with an adventurous spirit!
The third little play zone was called City Land. We spent the least amount of time here but it looked like a little urban landscape styled play structures complete with a mini paved "street" that is perfect small bikes and trikes.
Around the three play zones there were also other great features like swings, a zipline, and walking paths. It is perfect for a family day out with lots and ramadas, picnic tables and grills. I was most impressed by all the features to include people of all different abilities.
Playtopia! is definitely on our list to visit the next time we happen to be in the greater Phoenix area. It is a sweet place and the kids cannot stop talking about it!
